With crime as an occurring factor here in PGA National and our economy in a slump,
criminals prey on easy targets and even easier gains. Wackenhut has been continuously
working hard to reduce and eliminate these crimes. In recent months, the residents of
PGA National have been showing outstanding contributions to these efforts by reporting
suspicious vehicles and activities to our officers. Wackenhut is extending our gratitude
and appreciation for these efforts. From notifying security in regards to a suspicious
person, unfamiliar vehicles or solicitors in the area, security is able to gain a substantial
lead on possible criminal activity.
As you are aware of, the POA rules in PGA National are enforced to create safety and
concordance amongst residents. Having your garage door open and not being for ingress
and egress, has the potential to make you an easy target for criminals. Aiding your
neighbor in a simple task such as reporting an open garage door to security can deter
a burglary or theft from occurring in your community. The Palm Beach Gardens Police
and Wackenhut are also working simultaneously with the Car Smart Program. This was
designed to conduct vehicle checks and notify residents of the valuables that are in plain
view.
In efforts to increase our security force in PGA National, Wackenhut has started
replacing our unarmed security officers (USO) with armed security officers (Custom
Protection Officer) at gatehouses. This change, we believe, will discourage criminals
from targeting PGA National. Also, I hope the change is a warm welcome home for the
returning Snow birds.
As always, being a proactive community will make the most significant difference.
Remember to set your alarm when you leave your home and make sure that all doors and
windows are secure. Never leave valuables in your vehicle. Report all suspicious persons
and activity to security at 627-1600.
