Security Director’s Report – April 2012

April 1, 2012 by Website Administrator

There are a couple of topics I would like to discuss with you. In the past two months my office has received several complaints on two issues that seem to be on a rise here in PGA National. One of the complaints pertains to pets off leashes. As a dog owner and an animal lover myself, I understand how enjoyable it is to have your dog chase after a ball or run free.

However, pets are regulated and limited by the City of Palm Beach Gardens Animal Ordinance, which simply states that ALL owners must keep ALL pets on a leash when outside of a fenced lot. A dog just wants to be a dog, but it is our responsibility to help them adapt to their surroundings. A leash can save a life.

The other complaint that my office is receiving pertains to the placing and/or the removal of yard debris. As you hopefully know, garbage or yard waste collection is on Tuesdays and Fridays, so on Monday and Thursdays everyone places their garbage out for collection. This is fine. The problem we are seeing is that contractors are not removing yard debris that they have placed at the edge of the roadway.

The POA Rules and Regulations state that contractors, at the end of each maintenance day will remove any loose materials, trash or debris from the property immediately. Common property shall be free of all debris from mowing, trimming, and edging. The problem this creates is that others living in the community have to spend their weekend looking at two to three-foot tall piles of debris as they enter or exit the community. Being a proactive community will make the most significant difference.

In conclusion, remember to keep your pet on a leash and remind your contractors to remove the yard debris each day when the job is done. Also, never hesitate to call security at 627-1600 to report any suspicious persons and activity. Whenever you leave your home – no matter for how long – always lock your doors and set your alarm. Never leave valuables in your vehicle. Sharing information is vital; the smallest piece of information may be the biggest part of the solution.
