Welcome Home
To all of the PGA “Snow Birds” – Welcome Back! I think some of the residents are returning earlier than usual; I saw the first car carrier in October. Let me take this opportunity to remind everyone again: Please watch your speed in PGA. One of the things that drew you here was the beauty and wildlife (and, of course, the people) so please try to be patient, courteous and take your time while driving in the community.
I was WRONG…..wow – it didn’t hurt to say it.
Although the storm season officially ends November 30th I feel safe enough to say my prediction that I thought it would be an active season was incorrect. I’ve never been so happy to be wrong!
In the Dark
I know it has been a while since the landscape lights along the main PGA entry (Avenue of the Champions) have worked properly, I am hoping by the time you read this the problem will be solved. You know PGA is about 30 years old and when it was originally built the codes were different. The electric didn’t necessarily have to be put into a “conduit” or pipe so after many years and many patches and other cuts to the wires, the whole thing finally gave out. It took a couple months to get the bids, approve one, get permits, etc. but I am happy to report that as of the writing of this article, the repairs are in progress. Compete new wires were pulled from the traffic circle to PGA Blvd.
Speaking of Lights
The holiday lighting program has been revised this year. The displays that have stood in the traffic circle for the past few years are owned by the POA so they are being moved to new areas around PGA National. Don’t worry – Santa and the sleigh will still fly to the PGA logo by the traffic circle. One year installation was late and I actually received a letter concerned that Santa wouldn’t be able to find his way to PGA without his helper lighting the way. Whether it was legitimately from a child or not, I thought it was cute!
The other holiday lights have been modified slightly but I will wait for your opinion. Let me know.
Northlake Entry
Last month I reported again that the Turnpike connection from Bee Line to Northlake was under construction. I didn’t go into a lot of detail about the plans for that entry once construction is complete because I don’t have all the info yet. Please be assured that the POA has it on their planning list and will be making a number of improvements to the entry at Northlake so that it looks spectacular. As soon as the work on the Turnpike connection is complete, the Maintenance Committee will start working on plans and I will, of course, share with you.
Shootings and Stuff
There are always a number of rumors floating around. Whenever the police or fire enter PGA National, security responds. The POA gets a copy of incident reports and if the matter is serious enough that the residents of a community need to be informed, the POA makes every attempt to do so.
It always amazes me to hear the crazy rumors that surface the following day. Please keep in mind that police and fire are called for a number of reasons. Sometimes they are just a matter of a domestic dispute or someone having a difficult time that needs help. If there is a situation when the residents need to be informed, we will contact your association and get the word out to you. Of course you are always welcome to call the POA to find out the facts but please don’t be part of the rumor patrol.
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY
Hope everyone had a fun Halloween (you’re never too old to enjoy your childhood) and wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!
