SLEEP TIGHT AND DON’T’ LET THE BEDBUGS BITE!
It’s not just a cute saying…if you haven’t been watching the news, the good ole bedbug is making a come back! I rarely watch the news (hey, if I wake up alive it is a good day and everything else will work out, right?) so I only recently found out how bad things were.
I naively thought that since I don’t take vacation and don’t stay in any hotels I won’t have a problem. How wrong can I be? I was speaking with Dave Guzy of IPM pest control (see his article in this issue) and he was telling me that major department stores in New York are closing for periods of time to get bedbugs under control. Uh Oh! I do buy clothes so I guess anyone could have a problem. College dorms, hotels and everything in between seems to be experiencing bedbug infestations. Kids come home from school or friends visit and poof! The little critters are now in your house (no, silly, not the guest or kids….the bedbugs!).
Now you need to get rid of bedbugs so you buy a new mattress, right? Nope! The mattress company kindly offers to haul away the old one and they toss it on the truck with the new mattresses and POOF the little critters are in the new mattress before it even gets into the house.
I know this sounds like a funny exaggeration but it really isn’t funny or an exaggeration!
ARTS & CRAFTS AND FUN STUFF TO DO !
It is that time of year when the temperature goes down to a reasonable level and all the local arts & crafts festivals pop up all over south Florida. For the past five years the PGA Special Events Committee has organized an Arts Festival and Craft Fair right here in PGA! The event will be held at Masters Park (on the corner of Ryder Cup Blvd at Ave of the Masters) on Saturday December 11th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and entry is FREE. This year a band will be playing a good mix of music and there is plenty of food as well as some fantastic artists. Please be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, December 11th and stroll through the beautiful gardens in Masters Park while you visit the artists and crafters (many of whom live right here in PGA National).
