Welcome home “snowbirds” and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
ANNUAL MEETING
This year annual meeting of PGA POA will be held Monday, January 19, 2009 and the Nominating Committee is currently seeking four candidates to serve a two year term on the nine member Board of Governors. If you are interested in serving on the POA Board, please drop a quick note to PGA POA (or call 627-2800 and leave your name and phone number) and the Nominating Committee will call you.
The Board would appreciate your attendance at the POA Annual Meeting. Last year the POA Board was actually embarrassed at the lack of attendance; especially since various City and County officials are invited to speak at each meeting. The residents of PGA National have always held a large percentage of the votes for this area so please let the officials know that you are interested in your community, your city and your county and attend the meeting. You should be home within two hours and I promise you will gain some valuable information.
SHOPPES ON THE GREEN NEW NEIGHBORS
For those who have been away for the summer, you probably noticed some activity in Shoppes on the Green….it is L.A. Fitness and they are moving into the former Publix space. They anticipate having their Grand Opening after the first of the year (sometime between January – March, 2009) For information about L.A. Fitness, please call Tim at 772-626-2122
Along with the opening, we are very happy to report that the whole plaza will receive a much needed “face lift”. The dated green tiles and wood trellis will be removed and “softer” colors will be used. The wood trellis will be replaced with bronze aluminum. After the building is done, the site will be re-landscaped and new signs will be installed. The name of the plaza may be changing too but you’ll have to wait and see what the future brings!
A FABULOUS ART FESTIVAL!
You should soon receive a post card announcing PGA POA’s THIRD ANNUAL ART FESTIVAL
AND CRAFT FAIR at MASTERS PARK. Mark your calendar now! This is a one day only event
on Saturday, December 13th from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Masters Park (on the corner of Ryder Cup Blvd and Ave of the Masters). Because we expect a LOT of attendees, we suggest that you walk or bicycle to the park if you can. Parking is available on site (along Avenue of the Masters) and Wackenhut will have extra guards on hand to assist with the parking.
There is a diverse group of approximately forty-five extremely talented artists and crafters
participating (please see the list at the end of this article) and we hope to see you there too! I would like to express my personal appreciation to those who called to volunteer so that all of you could continue to enjoy the December art festival and the Annual Children’s Party in the Park each April. A special thank you goes to the PGA POA Special Events Committee: Geri Clayton, Norma Nelson, Claire Knoetgen, Betsy Bigley, Carol Ruthfield, Joyce Hart and Pam Kessler.
DOG GONE IT!
Owners continue to allow pets to roam without leashes and are not cleaning up after their dogs. The POA has the right to impose fines of $100.00 per day per violation not to mention that it is unsanitary and just plain rude to leave your pet’s waste. Poor Fido is even embarrassed – he would clean up himself if he could only figure out how to carry the bag and scoop!
